Yes and no. Lions arch is over the shiverpeaks, to the east of ascalon. This isn't that far, but it takes some time to get the skills that you need. If you do the quests, you can get them sooner.

Both. It's good in both and balanced in both. In pve i would switch some skills though. I would take out whirlwind and energy tap, and bring along ressurection signet and aura of restoration. You don't have to though, but if you're new to the build, or if you match up with a bad party, you'll appreciate having them with.

No, but seeeing as how every other element has one, I personally believe that anet should add one of those. I could see that it would be difficult due to balancing issues however, so I wouldn't expect it soon, if at all.
However, there are the slight aoe spells that I have mentioned before: chain lightning, whirlwind, lightning touch.

yeah... this is what i think of the 2 elements, correct me if im wrong
fire= alot of dmg, attack multiple units at time, harder to use due to AoE (ppl can easily dodge)
air= alot of dmg (maybe slightly less than fire), attack single or a couple of units at a time, easier to use.

For the Arcane echo :
I don´t suggest using it in PvP. I tried it and my opinion is as follows :
Let´s say that you want to Arcane echo the Lightning Orb. For the immediate attack it might be OK, but only to the moment when you realize that you are out of mana and you can hardly save mana for the one Orb (unless you are using both - air + ele attunement but that means you have one slot less for dmg spell).
For the echo of Chain lightning. Again, its good for immediate dmg but Chain has long recharge time and also you have to wait until the echo is reharged. So that gives us one useless skill slot for a long time.
If you have in that slot instead of arcane echo some cheap spell with short recharge (javelin for example) - you will do with it 53 lightning dmg - thats 53 less then orb and chain - but you dont have to wait long time for recharge or mana regen. So in complex view, you will be more useful and can eventually do more dmg in longer battles - which often Tombs are.

I wouldn't do it with chain lightning either. Thats back to back exhaustion.

damn, i shouldve gone with monk, its so much easier...
and there seems to be a lack of monks when I play for some reason...

Uhh, you'll see as the game progresses. It's like a part in the story line. And don't fret, you'll get some good skills as time progresses. If you think this build is hard in the beginnning, try necro lol. I'm working on that right now.

Right now, my PVP Elementalist looks like this:
Air Magic: 16
Energy Storage: 13
Chain Lightning
Lighting Orb
Mind Shock [e]
Arcane Echo
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Glyph of Elemental Power
Air Attunement
Resurrection Signet
When I’m about to fight, I cast Air Attunement, then Glyph of Lesser Energy, then Arcane Echo. My first offensive spell is then Mind Shock, which is followed up by a Glyph of Elemental Power, which is followed up by a Mind Shock. After that, I’m mostly just casting as fast as spells recharge, using Glyphs to boost my power as often as possible. I try to use Mind Shock as much as possible while energy is high, less so when I probably don’t have more energy than the enemy.

they do similar dmg (41,43) , but one cost 10 energy and the other 5...
is lightning strike a projectile attack? or does it never miss?

Lightning strike is much better. While Javelin can be evaded, strike cannot. It costs less energy and the benefit from javelin (interuption if one is attacking?) is not all that great anyway.

I used to be Ele/Mes, Air/Inspir or Air/Domi Or even Air/Illusino (which i suggest deal a lot of dmg)
BUt one flaw is dat u couldn't stay alive in first 10 sec in battles, just only 1-2 target on u, u dead immediately ... that 's why. this is strong build, but u got beaten ezily in PvP.
So I change myself Ele/Mo, Air/Prot or Heal which I could be able to stay alive quite long, being stable, effective Air Spiker.
Also, for my opnion, if u still wanna go Ele/Mes, go Energy/Illusion/Domination! following Shutdown Mesmer build
